Happy Christmas!

It’s Christmas! as Noddy Holder of Slade used to scream (gosh, I remember the song coming out and battling Wizard for the top slot).

It is east to romanticise Christmas but the first Christmas was not nearly as sanitised as the Christmas cards. A teenage mother giving birth to her first born in a borrowed stable with no midwife. 2000 years later many people will struggle with loneliness and family struggles this Christmas.

Christmas in the Bible is full of the unexpected. Old ladies getting pregnant; virgins having babies; shepherds seeing angels; astrologers following a star hundreds of miles to find a child. God is still doing the unexpected today. The wise men were overjoyed when they met Jesus. May you find unexpected joy in Him this Christmas.

Do remember all those around the world who find it hard to celebrate Christmas because of threats and danger. And those who are struggling in other ways too. May they find unexpected joy this Christmas too.

HAPPY CHRISTMAS!

Turning 60 is a door to a new decade. I want to use these years positively, starting with the next one. So I want it to be a year of trying different things as well as familiar one and to do a couple of challenges. 60 things at 60 with the aim of raising £6 000 for the charity Open Doors, serving persecuted Christians around the world, many who live with very little. Would you be part of the adventure with me?
